Sports and Entertainment Marketing introduces the student to ...
the marketing and management function and tasks that can be applied in the field of marketing. Participation in this program includes extensive leadership and presentation experience through participation in DECA, a national marketing education organization for high school students. Level III students may be eligible for a capstone internship in the field of marketing where they will be paired with an approved local business to practice skills. Articulation agreements exist for high achieving students desiring to pursue the study of marketing at the post-secondary level. Students receiving a score of Advanced on the National Occupational Competency Institute (NOCTI) examination will receive a minimum of 9 college credits at participating post-secondary institutes through the PA SOAR program.

Meet the Teacher

Mr. Davenport graduated from Alvernia University with a BS in Marketing. He graduated from BTI with an Associate's Degree in Business Management. Mr. Davenport is currently enrolled at Bloomsburg University, where he will graduate in fall of 2022 with his M.ed in Education with PA B.C.I.T teaching certification. He has worked for over 18 years in the industry in a variety of positions including manager, marketing advisor, tax professional, brand manager, product developer, entrepreneur, and sales representative. These positions have provided him with different levels of marketing and management experience with a variety of products ranging from clothing to food products. 

Mr. Davenport started teaching at Pottstown in 2022 as the Marketing Teacher. This is a position he thoroughly enjoys as he brings real-world experience from the workplace into the classroom. This allows him to better prepare his students for their future. He is also the advisor of DECA, the competitive association of marketing students who compete in marketing-based competitions at district, state, and national levels. 

As a graduate and previous member of the Pottstown High School Marketing and DECA program, he enjoys building relationships with his students. Mr. Davenport's goal is to teach students to have a passion for learning and educating them from real-life experiences.

SOAR Credits

PA Bureau of Career and Technical Education SOAR Programs of Study taken at the High School level may transfer into participating colleges, universities, and technical centers. The awarding of college-level credit is acceptable for up to three (3) years after the qualifying student’s graduation date from the Program of Study at the High School. The mission of SOAR is to prepare students for college and careers in a diverse, high-performing workforce.
