in the healthcare field. Future physical therapists, doctors, and nurses gain valuable insight into their field through participation in this program. High achieving students may also graduate with a PA Skills Certificate. Articulation agreements also exist for high achieving students desiring to pursue health related studies at the postsecondary level. Students receiving a score of Advanced on the National Occupational Competency Institute (NOCTI) examination will receive a minimum of 3 college credits at participating post-secondary institutes through the PA SOAR program.

Meet the Teacher

JohnsonMs. Johnson Richardson graduated from Villanova University with her RN. She has worked in healthcare for 21 years as an RN and Hospice Nurse. She has been teaching for the past 9 years. For the past 4 years she has also coached the girls' track and field team. Teaching has become her new joy as she loves to share what she has learned with the next generation. Her passion is to share her knowledge of how the human body works to her students. Her other favorite part of teaching is anatomy and physiology. She has 3 teenagers and rabbit named "Ash." Ms. Johnson Richardson loves to read, exercise, and spend time with her family. She also enjoys watching football and baking. Her favorite part of teaching is when a student finally masters a skill after practicing hard to get all the steps accurate. She is also the advisor for HOSA.

Articulation Agreements/SOAR Credits

The Healthcare Technology program holds a one-to-one articulation agreement with: Montgomery County Community College.

PA Bureau of Career and Technical Education SOAR Programs of Study taken at the High School level may transfer into participating colleges, universities, and technical centers. The awarding of college-level credit is acceptable for up to three (3) years after the qualifying student’s graduation date from the Program of Study at the High School. The mission of SOAR is to prepare students for college and careers in a diverse, high-performing workforce.
