Automotive Technology

The Automotive Technology program is designed to teach students ...
the skills necessary for success in the field of automotive technologies. This program prepares students for postsecondary education in the automotive field. Qualified high-achieving students may graduate with a PA Skills Certificate. This course prepares students for ASE certification. Level III students may be eligible for Work Based Learning opportunities in the auto industry where they will be paired with an approved local business to practice the skills learned in class. Students receiving a score of Advanced on the National Occupational Competency Institute (NOCTI) examination will receive a minimum of 9 college credits at participating post-secondary institutes through the PA SOAR program.

Meet the Teacher

Mr. MewittMr. Hewitt graduated from Pottstown High School in 2001. He spent 18 years as a Master Technician at Tri County Toyota. He began teaching at PHS in 2015. Mr. Hewitt enjoys all that Mother Nature has to offer while hunting and fishing. He loves to coach football and wrestling while watching kids grow mentally and physically. His favorite part of teaching is building relationships with his students. He believes one of the greatest aspects of the CTE programs is the opportunity to having fun while building relationships simply because of the amount of time spent together in the classroom and lab.

Articulation Agreements/SOAR Credits

The Automotive Technology program holds a one-to-one articulation agreement with:
Universal Technical Institute (UTI).

PA Bureau of Career and Technical Education SOAR Programs of Study taken at the High School level may transfer into participating colleges, universities, and technical centers. The awarding of college-level credit is acceptable for up to three (3) years after the qualifying student’s graduation date from the Program of Study at the High School. The mission of SOAR is to prepare students for college and careers in a diverse, high-performing workforce.
