That is what can be said of Pottstown High School female wrestler Mia Bumbarger.
Mia becomes the first ever female Pottstown wrestler to commit to continuing both her academic and athletic career at an institution of higher learning. Mia will be attending Alvernia University.
There is a great distinction to being the first in anything, knowing that no one else will ever be able to claim that title. Mia has distinguished herself both in the classroom and on the mat. During the regular season she took first place in all female tournaments at Pottstown and Governor Mifflin. She held her own at the Marple Newtown tournament competing against all boys, she placed sixth. At the MyHouse all female competitions she was a southeastern regional champ and a state place winner. She was named to the Mercury All Area Honorable Mention Team.
Her work ethic, self discipline and determination have served as a role model for her teammates. She competes with the heart of a lion and the eye of the tiger. Her success both on and off the mat gives more proof to the fact that hard work pays off.
