Lady Trojans make a name for themselves

Pottstown Lady Trojan wrestlers at both the high and middle school are not wasting time in making a name for themselves and our schools. This is the first year that the district has official teams and that girls wrestling is an official PIAA sanctioned sport. The girls had strong showings at both the North Penn and Governor Mifflin Tournaments, which attract some of the best competitors in Southeast PA. At North Penn the Trojan team placed 10th out of 30 schools with Savannah Richards going 5-2 with three of the wins coming by pin to place 4th,Triniti Rhodes 4-2 with 3 pins for 5th. Earning 7th place were Riley Maguire,Tara Morgan,Taylor Maguire and Isabella Wright. Malaysia Willams placed 8th. Emely Villegas picked up valuable experience that will help lead to future success. At Governor Mifflin over 350 of some of the best in PA did battle. Savannah placed 2nd,Tara 3rd, Triniti 4th, Vida Torres, Malaysia Taylor and Riley 2nd. The middle school girls also made some noise at Mifflin with Leyna Johnson picking up her first pin on the way to 3rd place, Niya Crowder and Alexandra Green with their first pins earning 2nd place. Lexi Bowen, showing she will be a strong competitor. For the first time ever the PIAA has started ranking girls and teams in southeast PA. In the first week's rating the Trojan team was ranked 5th, with Savannah ranked 1st in her weight class. Earning Honorable Mention were; Tara Morgan,Triniti Rhodes,Riley and Taylor Maguire.
