Pottstown High School senior Jon Moser will have an interesting answer to the typical first day back from school question: "What did you do over the vacation?" Fort Jackson US Army training base in South Carolina was Moser’s home away from home for 10 weeks of basic combat training during the summer. Along with all of the other civilian volunteers he learned combat skills, such as land navigation, medical care, marksmanship, and other military skills. Moser graduated along with the other volunteers, well trained, disciplined, physically, fit and motivated.Jon returned to the halls of PHS, where he traded his combat gear in for the set of drums, he plays as a member of the marching band and the headgear he uses as a member of the wrestling team. John said, "Camp was a challenge, but my activities at PHS such as the band, the school musical, wrestling, academic and CTE classes prepared me well for basic training. I was happy to get back home to see family and friends and enjoyed my first night under the lights at band camp!"
