Superintendent Update - Chromebooks

Good Afternoon Pottstown Parents and Guardians,

Last year, we shared concerns regarding student misuse of Chromebooks, leading to many losses.  We asked for feedback and the consensus was clear:  Our students and families should be responsible for any damage to these taxpayer-funded devices.  As a result, we will be strictly enforcing a “You break it, You bought it!” policy, so please speak with your students about this, and we highly encourage you to purchase the insurance.

Please review the following information carefully regarding the 23-24 Chromebook Responsibility Form (click here for the English form or click here for the Spanish form):

  • Form Submission: A signed Chromebook Responsibility Form is MANDATORY; devices won't be issued without it (click here for the English sign-off form or click here for the Spanish sign-off form).

  • Financial Responsibility: You are liable for damage, breakage, theft, or loss of district-issued Chromebooks.

  • It is STRONGLY encouraged to purchase the optional Chromebook insurance as it minimizes unexpected expenses and ensures uninterrupted learning:

  • Insurance Fee: $35/student/year (max charge of $105 for three or more students).

  • Early Bird Rate: $30 if paid by August 17, 2023.

  • Coverage: Accidental damage repair is included.

  • Opting Out: By declining the insurance, you agree to cover FULL repair/replacement costs.

  • Payment Process: Click here to pay online via MySchoolBucks.

Please ensure a smooth transition to school by completing these forms before school starts!!

Sincerely,

Stephen Rodriguez
Superintendent of Schools
