IMPORTANT UPDATE Masks Recommended

masksDear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Staff,

Due to changing guidance from both the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and our local Office of Public Health (OPH), recommendations for mask wearing in schools has changed. In accordance with our Health and Safety Plan, and based on new metrics and guidance from the OPH of Montgomery County, the Pottstown School District will move from a ‘mask mandatory’ position to a ‘mask recommended’ position. This means that wearing masks is no longer required, effective immediately. However, certain mitigation measures will stay in place, including social distancing, avoidance of large group gatherings, and some contact tracing.

To be clear, both students and staff may now make their own individual determination about wearing a mask in schools or on buses. Students and staff will still have the option to wear an appropriate mask, but the mask mandate is now lifted and we have moved to a recommended only status.

All indications lead us to believe that the worst of the pandemic may be behind us. I'd like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone in our school community for continuing to be an example to others in how to respect and appreciate one another over the past 2 years. The true character of a community is not defined in the best of times, but in the worst of times, and I am proud of how we stuck together. However, like you, I look forward to brighter days ahead!
