Modified Lockdown

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today, the Pottstown Middle School received phone threats and immediately began working with the Pottstown Police Department. We activated our emergency procedures. Students and staff were placed in a modified lockdown so that no visitors were allowed inside, and movement in the building was limited. After a thorough investigation, the lockdown was ended. However, we will continue with our precautions by conducting a controlled dismissal of all students at the Middle School. This means that students will be dismissed in small groups by grade level over a slightly longer period of time. Police will be present to add support to a safe dismissal procedure.

Should you have any information about this situation, please contact the Pottstown Police Department or Pottstown Middle School administration. As always, our first priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.

Sincerely,

Stephen J. Rodriguez
Superintendent of Schools
