Firefighters on call 24/7

Beckem Cole and Jesse Ryder Pottstown High School class of 2024 found out firsthand what it means to be a volunteer fireman on duty 24/7. Early the morning of their high school graduation they were called to a high-rise fire at Robert P. Smith Towers on High Street in Pottstown. As members of the Pottstown Phillies fire company they helped put down a fire on the fifth floor of the building and assisted in the evacuation of 60 residents. By 10 AM they had turned in their firefighter gear and were taking part in the high school graduation rehearsal program. Later that evening, in their cap and gown, they joined the other 221 members of the 144th Pottstown High School graduating class to receive their diplomas. The Phillies fire engine was on hand outside the stadium to give a blast of their horns and lights to recognize the achievements of their fellow firefighters. along with the entire class of 2024. PHS students serve the community, another reason to say, proud to be from Pottstown.
