Partnership brings innovation and challenge for students

VanA partnership of the Pottstown School District and Montgomery County Community College will provide a group of Pottstown eighth graders an innovative program that will challenge and build academic abilities and promote interpersonal skills. Montco 360 Is an innovative, immersive STEM ( science, technology, engineering mathematics) program held on MCCC's Pottstown campus for a group of Pottstown eighth grade students. The college held an open house for students and parents to introduce them to the program and facilities.

The course will be taught by Pottstown Middle School engine/physics/mathematics teacher, Mr. Andy Bachman. The program will focus on problem-solving skills, critical thinking, project development, communications, and much more. Students will spend part of their day on the college campus and have full access to the Challenger Learning Center, Science Sphere classroom and other college facilities. Transportation to and from the college will be by way of the new distinctive Trojan Mobile.

Ryan Oxenford Director of Curriculum and Educational Programs for the school district said, we are excited about the educational opportunities that this partnership will provide for our students. They will face academic challenges that call for teamwork, creative thinking, and communication skills. Their experience in Montco 360 will help position them for future success.
