Franklin dedication of muralAt Franklin Elementary they literately go to the wall to show their school and community pride. The Franklin Mural is complete! Started as a graduation project by Tanner Scott and Alyssa Rulli (Class of 2020), former Franklin principal Mr. Kevin Downes, Parent Alison Scott and Friends of Franklin began planning the mural in February of 2018. Local artist Carrie Kingsbury of Promised Murals was commissioned to complete the mural, which she began work on during the 2018-2019 school year.

Local businessman Bob Gueli donated a warehouse space while the mural was being completed, then it was stored in the Annex building until the weather improved in the Spring. The mural has a vintage postcard feel, with images of Pottstown, education, and actual Franklin Franklin muralstudents included! Scott and Rulli wanted to add a little something extra into the mural to make it interactive for the kids and to demonstrate some STEAM elements with the addition of modern technology.

The mural has an ABC themed ISpy game hidden in the panting with 26 small images that each represent a letter of the alphabet can be found somewhere on the mural. A small sign was posted in front of the mural with a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone to get the list of hidden images. Now everyone who passes by Franklin will have another reason to say Proud to be from Pottstown.
