My name is Miss Tutrani, and I am a Health and Physical Education Teacher for Grades 6-8 at Pottstown Middle School. I am a former scholar-athlete from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), where I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education. I continued my path for higher education through West Chester University (WCU), and received my Master’s of Public Administration Degree with a concentration in Sports Management and Athletics. I am approaching my fourth year with Pottstown Middle as a teacher and I am the Head Coach for the 7th and 8th Grade Girls Soccer and Basketball Team. In addition to Pottstown, I will begin my sixth year as an Assistant Women’s Softball Coach for Cabrini College.
As an educator and coach, I strongly believe that students should understand the correlation between a healthy body and healthy mind. In efforts, our department has developed a connected health and physical education curriculum. We designed progressive lessons of fitness, individual and small-sided team appropriate sport activities that coincide with our health instructional strategies and curriculum. We believe in increasing student participation in health and physical education through cooperative and differentiated activities. Our department feels these activities can help students understand and respect differences among people and develop lifelong social skills. Lastly, our department is confident that a structured implementation of physical activity and healthy eating, cultivate disciplined academics and independent maturity within a diverse community.
