Athletics and Activities

Our Athletics and Activities

Co-curricular activities, both athletic and non-athletic, are integral to the academic program and support the educational mission. They assist in the goal of teaching students to be responsible and fulfilled human beings with opportunities that develop character, critical thinking, social skills, and talents. Co-curricular activities provide students with a network of peers and adults who have interests and talents similar to their own. Students who participate have a chance to excel individually, be part of a group, and gain real life lessons about the importance of teamwork, responsibility, commitment, and hard work.

Participation in activities gives students the opportunity to experience commitment building by developing skills and creating aspirations and providing rewarding experiences that strengthen a person’s commitment to conventional institutions such as school and career pathways. Co-curricular activities provide students the opportunity for a sense of membership and belonging. They are an extension of a good educational program and support the academic mission. Students who participate in activities and programs tend to have higher grade point averages, better attendance records, lower dropout rates, and fewer discipline problems than students who do not participate.

Not only do students do better academically, but they also have the opportunity to develop their personalities in the process. Self-esteem, self-confidence, social cooperation, and leadership skills are a few of the benefits gained by participation in co-curricular activities.

The Athletic Department also has an external website that is supported by SCHEDULE STAR. It has all our schedules updated in real time, it also also give parents the ability to subscribe as a fan to their students teams and gives them an iCal for individual teams.
