Section 504 Service Agreement Information
CHAPTER 15 – ANNUAL PUBLIC NOTICE
In compliance with state and federal law, the Pottstown School District will provide to each protected handicapped student without discrimination or cost to the student or family, those related aids, services or accommodations which are needed to provide equal opportunity to participate in and obtain the benefits of the school program and extracurricular activities to the maximum extent appropriate to the student's abilities.
To be eligible for Chapter 15/Section 504 services, the student must meet the following conditions:
- The student is of an age at which public education is offered in the school.
- The student has a physical or mental disability that substantially limits or prohibits participation in or access to an aspect of the student's school program.
- The student is not eligible as defined by Chapter 14 (relating to special education services and programs) or who is eligible but is raising a claim of discrimination. These services and protections for "protected handicapped students" are distinct from those applicable to all eligible students enrolled (or seeking enrollment) in special education programs.
