American Literature and Composition

About the class

Emphasis is placed on reading and interpreting American Literature. The 2018-2019 school year will see the development of Universal themes in American Literature across time periods.  See the course syllabus for a breakdown of topics. Students are trained to use the writing process to create essays and guided responses. Students read two or more novels outside of class. Vocabulary development, style, and voice are stressed as well as standard English conventions.
 
August 22, 2018:  Students will receive on line text book log in information by the end of the week starting 8/30/18.  
 
Students will need to have a notebook or binder for class that can be separated into multiple sections.  This can be done at the discretion of the student must the sections must be readily recognizable by the instructor.
 
Students will be assigned a number that corresponds to the classroom chromebooks.  Any damage to the chromebook is the financial responsibility of the student assigned to that device. 
 
 WORK ASSIGNED ON A SPECIFIC GOOGLE DOC (OR ANY OTHER GOOGLE APPLICATION) MUST BE COMPLETED IN THE ORIGINAL DOC OR APP.
