Texas Tragedy

By now you have likely heard about the horrific tragedy in Uvalde, Texas yesterday, in which 19 elementary students and two adults were killed by a gunman, who is also deceased.

Good Afternoon Pottstown Parents and Guardians,

By now you have likely heard about the horrific tragedy in Uvalde, Texas yesterday, in which 19 elementary students and two adults were killed by a gunman, who is also deceased. A number of others have also been injured. This shooting has shaken our nation to its core, and our hearts are heavy.

We are sensitive to the stress, anxiety, and fear that this incident may cause for many in our school community. Our crisis response team/counselors are prepared to speak to any students and staff this week who would like some support in coping with the aftermath of this tragedy.

Over the past 15 years, our district has worked diligently to improve safety and security in all schools with cameras, secure vestibules, security personnel, and other facilities improvements. We have also dedicated increasing resources to improve student mental and emotional health, including adding school counselors at each school.

We want all of our students to feel safe and secure and we want parents to feel confident in sending their children to positive educational environments. We will do all we can to ensure that happens.
