Message to Parents

Dear Parents and Guardians,Message

Yesterday we learned that one of our Pottstown High School students was involved in an off campus altercation which resulted in a gunshot wound to the buttocks from a small caliber pistol. This morning at PHS, a school-wide search was conducted as a part of our regular safety protocols. In addition, we have mental health professionals on standby should they be needed to support students and staff who may be experiencing difficulty processing the recent events.

The actions of this perpetrator are clearly illegal and obviously dangerous. I urge you to help us send a consistent message to our young people, that the use of violence is not an acceptable way to address disagreements. We are fully cooperating with the Pottstown Police Department on this matter. If you have any information relating to this issue, or any other potential student problems, or any criminal activity, please reach out to our schools or the Administration Building at 610-323-8200 and/or the Pottstown Police Department directly at 610-970-6572 so that we can keep our community and our students safe. Teamwork is needed to build a strong community.

One Goal, One Team, One Town.

Sincerely,
Stephen J. Rodriguez
Superintendent of Schools
