Thank you to those that  participated in our recent survey regarding mask requirements. Attached to this email, you can see the results.

On Thursday, August 12th, in consultation with our school board committee, and in conjunction  with recommendations made by the Center for Disease Control, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Montgomery County Office of Public Health, the Pottstown School District will require masks for all students and staff, effective Monday, August 23rd, 2021.

School District officials will watch transmission rates in the Borough closely, as well as continue close collaboration with Montgomery County Office of Public Health. If transmission rates drop below 5%,  or other data becomes available, masking requirements will be reconsidered.

Please be sure to send your student to school with appropriate masks covering both the nose and the mouth.  Please also consider sending at least one spare mask in a clean plastic bag “just in case.”

As always, thank you for your continued support as we rally together as a community to get through a difficult time. I have often been able to comment and quite frankly brag about our community because we have the ability to hold differing opinions while at the same time supporting one another when it counts. Thank you for being part of the reason we can all say, Proud to be from Pottstown!

Sincerely,

Stephen J. Rodriguez

Superintendent of Schools
