Taylor goes to Washington

Pottstown High School Senior Taylor Maguire lives up to the belief of “every second counts“. Recently she was selected by the United States Tennis Association Foundation as one of the top 24 student athletes to attend the Haber Regional Career Excellence Program held in Washington DC. The group received exclusive tours of the White House, the Capital and prominent corporation headquarters. The program is designed to broaden students' understanding of potential career paths and develop leadership skills.

Taylor’s belief that every second counts can be seen in her never-ending participation in a wide range of activities. At school, she is a member of the tennis, wrestling and softball teams, and a member of the National Honor Society. She participates in marching, concert and jazz bands.

Her activities outside of school include being part of the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps and  coaching tennis for the Greater Pottstown Tennis Association. On the weekends she can be found on the dirt racetrack behind the wheel of a midget race car.

Taylor said, my favorite part of the week was touring the White House and learning about its history and different career options available. After high school I am looking forward to continuing my education and using it as a foundation for a career path.

As a student at Pottstown High School I have gained valuable friendships, been given leadership responsibilities and had the opportunity to learn the importance and value of teamwork. It has

shown me that hard work and dedication pay off.
