PHS girls basketball makes a college visit

The PHS girls basketball team along with head coach Greg Swavely and assistants Brittany Stevenson and Natalie Mehl enjoyed an afternoon at Ursinus College where they watched the women’s basketball team win a hard fought 69-59 game over Washington College. The visit was about a lot more than watching the game. Afterwards players were invited to the team meeting room where they could talk to the players and get some firsthand insight into how to balance the demands of a highly challenging academic school with participating on a successful basketball team. Assistant coach, Mehl who graduated from Ursinus was able to give the team a special behind the scenes tour and also introduced them to the culinary delights of Collegeville Italian Bakery. Head coach Greg Swavely said we are grateful for the opportunity our girls had to see how the game is played at the collegiate level and also receive some personal insight from college players about balancing academics and athletics. The visit to the bakery, not only provided sweet treats, but was more insight about campus life. Trips like this help prepare our young ladies for academic and athletic success at the next level.
