A Tree Grows In Brooklyn

Well, this post is not about the 1945 novel and it’s not about Brooklyn nor one tree. The Pottstown School District in collaboration with nonprofit partner, Save Our Lands, Save Our Towns Incorporated, with the aid of a grant secured from the Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources and matched with some school district funds will be planting 415 native trees on school district properties. Barth Elementary School was the site of one of the first tree planting projects which incorporated educational lessons for students and hands-on opportunities for tree planting. Students learned how trees help improve air quality, serve as protection from ultraviolet radiation, provide cooling and energy, along with  creating habitats for wildlife and beautifying the environment.
