Pottstown Middle School students, members of Montco 360 Project gained valuable knowledge and insights on a recent tour.
The Montco 360 Project is a partnership of the Montgomery County Community College and the Pottstown School District, which enables middle school students to experience enhanced learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Middle school mathematics teacher, Mr. Andy Bachman led the group on a tour of Amphenol -Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CIT) - Limerick, PA.
During the tour, the students interacted with engineers and witnessed a variety of STEM career opportunities available. CIT designs components from scratch, makes each piece, assembles, tests, and ships to customers.
Bachman said students built upon their science knowledge as they learned: how coaxial cables transmit signals, the significance of geometry and properties of materials. The students quickly realized the importance of quality control because the products they observed are going into space, rockets, and aircraft. We are thankful to have the college right here in our community and share in our mission to prepare each student, by name, for success at every level. More reason to say Proud to be from Pottstown.
