Jasheel Brown Pottstown High School class of 2013 has pursued success at every level. As a PHS Trojan he was a district champion wrestler, member of the Reading Olympics, Key Club and Student Government, He was an advanced placement student and was even eighth grade spelling bee champion.

He carried his strong work ethic to the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in material sciences and engineering. While at Penn he became a two-time national champion in the martial art of Taekwondo. He was a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. His quest for knowledge led him to successfully completing four courses in Korean language, and two in Korean history.

Brown entered the workforce as an associate scientist for a biopharmaceutical company where he worked on developing more effective and efficient forms of oral medication.

His success continued as an electronics manufacturing engineer where he oversaw the production of circuit boards used in various aerospace, military, and consumer applications.

Jasheel has used his interest and passion for athletic competition to support his other passion for social change while in college he was selected to travel to Brazil as part of a youth group sponsored by the US government, designed to bring leadership training and explore how sports, community centers and volunteering can impact social change.

His words of wisdom to the students of PHS, live life, actively and passionately, pursue your interest, and everything will be OK. Learn as much as you can on your own, school is primarily about how to learn and how to think, learning and achieving is cool.

PHS prepared me for college and the world by offering a solid education that I could effectively build upon and look back to for reference. The diversity of our town and school is an extremely beneficial experience. I am very glad and lucky that I was able to learn from so many different walks of life and be heavily influenced by those different backgrounds. I am definitely an amalgamation of every student, teacher, friend, coach, and parent that I have formed relationships with.

Brown's success in the classroom, on the mat and in the workplace  are a direct result of his belief that hard work pays off.
