Trojan Athletes And Coaches Run To ZAP Cancer

trojan track membersTrojan student athletes and coaches ran in the Pottstown ZAP Foundation 5K race to raise funds to support sponsorship of 2 rooms at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House,where families can stay while their child is undergoing treatment for cancer.

A local foundation it is named in memory of three members of our community that bravely fought cancer and ALS, Tommy Ziemak, Alexa Artis and Ron Postell. Christian Albert lead the Pottstown team with a 2nd overall place and 1st in his age group.

Teammate Riley Mead added a 4th overall place to go along with strong running by track members and coachesJose Hernamdez and Willam Daniels. Not to be outdone by youth Trojan coaches showed they have what it takes to cover the 3.1 mile hilly course. 

Leading the coaches with a 17th overall place while pushing her child in a babycart was Hockey coach Brandy Scherer with a 17th place.Rookie Cross Country coach was right behind in 18th place followed by hockey assistant coach Shaanna Tucker and retired coaching legend MaryAnn Hill. Former Pottstown Athletic Director Gary DeRenzo added to the Trojan effort by running a strong race.Pottstown tradition give of yourself to help those in need is reason to say Proud to be from Pottstown
