About Us:

The Pottstown School District offers comprehensive Full-Time placement options at Edgewood Learning Center, specializing in school-age programs for grades K-12 Emotional Support (ES) and Autistic Support (AS).

Edgewood Learning Center is dedicated to providing a nurturing, structured, and inclusive environment tailored to the unique needs of students with academic, social-emotional, and behavioral.

The K-8th Emotional Support Program integrates academic rigor with therapeutic and behavioral strategies to promote students' social-emotional, behavior, and academic growth. Instructional delivery incorporates a combination of the regular education curriculum, supplemental and replacement curriculum resources that are tailored to each student’s IEP goals. This flexible approach ensures that students access grade-level content to the greatest extent possible while receiving individualized supports that meet their unique learning needs. Materials and strategies may include adapted texts, multi-sensory tools, visual supports, and assistive technology to engage learners and reinforce skill acquisition.

The Autistic Support Program is designed to address individual needs using specialized strategies that support academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and language development. Classrooms utilize the VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program), a behavioral approach rooted in B.F. Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior. The curriculum emphasizes direct, explicit instruction, sensory-friendly accommodations, and structured routines to promote a sense of security and facilitate effective learning. Community based instruction opportunities are embedded into the school year aligned with curriculum and direct instruction.

All programs focus on developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), tailored to each student's needs, emphasizing progress toward the least restrictive environment (LRE). This ensures that students have opportunities to learn alongside their peers to the greatest extent possible, fostering inclusion and academic success.

Edgewood Learning Center strongly emphasizes family engagement as an essential part of student success. Through family workshops, regular communication, and active involvement in the IEP process, parents and guardians become active partners in their child's education, promoting consistency and effective support between home and school.
