Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Can you believe that summer is almost over and it's time to head back to school? I hope that you've had a fun and relaxing summer break! I spent the past few months working at summer camp with my son, Ben. We have had a great time, but I'm excited to be preparing for the 2016-2017 school year!
I'm beginning my eleventh year at Franklin, where I've been part of the Title 1, Pre-K, and Kindergarten teams. This will be my fifth year teaching fourth grade, and I think that I've found my fit! I have a very active, hands-on teaching style, and I work hard to meet the varying ability levels and learning styles in my classroom. I am currently part of a cohort with Discovery Ed, where I've had the opportunity to collaborate with other teachers in "STEM"ifying my teaching. Last month I attended Discovery's Summer STEMmersion program in Chicago. My head is still spinning with dozens and dozens of amazing new ideas that I hope to implement this year! I'm most excited to start a community service initiative... more to come on that :)
I will share specific information regarding classroom expectations and procedures at our Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 24 (7 pm). For now, please take a look at the district home page for information from our administrative team- it outlines our uniform policy and new bell schedule.
I will supply each student with a one-inch binder, subject folders, an assignment book, and a pencil pouch. It will be very helpful if your child comes to school on the first day with the following items:
- ONE folder with three holes punched, any school appropriate design or theme
- package of #2 pencils
- 2 highlighters, any color
The following items for our classroom community supply are not necessary, but always appreciated: pencils, dry-erase markers, 24-count box of crayons, colored pencils, colored pens, and TISSUES (we can NEVER have enough tissues!).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email, firstname.lastname@example.org. I can also be reached at Franklin at 610-970-6641 beginning on Monday, August 22.
I look forward to meeting everyone on Wednesday, August 24!
