YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE AN AVERAGE SIZE BACKPACK FOR YOUR CHILD. This size paper should easily fit into the backpack. Your child’s backpack should be
checked and emptied each and every day. It may contain work from the day, projects, homework and reminders and/or informational articles. PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON THE INSIDE OF THE BACKPACK.
SCHOOL HOURS: The students should arrive at school between 8:00am-8:15am and will dismiss at 3:00pm. Students who ride the bus should report to their bus stops at the assigned time. Upon arriving at school, the students should walk around the building to the kindergarten door. There will be school safety patrols to assist the kindergartners. Those students eating breakfast at school should enter the cafeteria through the side gym door. Parents MUST report to the office, sign in and secure a visitor badge before going to ANY classroom. Kindergartners who ride the bus/van will dismiss with the bus/van students in grades 1-4. Kindergartners who walk home will dismiss from the side kindergarten door.
WEEKLY CALENDAR: you will receive a newsletter from me with information and activities for the week. Keep the calendar on your refrigerator as a reminder.
STUDENT PICK-UP: According to school policy any NON-BUS student who is not picked up within 15 minutes after the dismissal time will be taken to the Pottstown Police Department. Parents will then need to pick up their child at City Hall located on High Street. Parents of all students are requested to fill out the enclosed PERMISSION TO PICK-UP form. Please fill out the PERMISSION TO PICK-UP form and return it to school with your child on the first day they attend E.B. Barth Elementary School. PLEASE BE SPECIFIC – if the person is not on the list your child will not be released to them without authorization from you. ALL changes in your child’s pick-up procedure MUST be in writing and received by the teacher prior to the start of the school day. All pick-up procedures are done with your child’s best interest and safety in mind.
LUNCH: Kindergartners will eat lunch in the cafeteria beginning. Your child should either bring to school a packed lunch or bring in money in an envelope with the amount of money inside the envelope and their name on the front of the envelope. Milk is available for 50 cents. Milk is included in the school lunch. Chocolate milk will be available.
HOMEWORK: Homework will begin after parent conferences in November. It will be given twice a week. Homework will be assigned on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Homework will not take more than 10 minutes for your child to complete. Homework is a review of what the children do in school. Your child should complete the homework without your help unless it is a family project. Homework should be signed/initialed by a parent/caregiver (NOT DAY CARE) and returned to school the next day.
