Closing and Emergency Information

è PROCEDURES
The school district will utilize several sources to announce school closings, delayed 
 openings, and early dismissals due to emergencies. They are as follows: 

  • Instant Connect Phone Call and/or Email to Your Home
  • Pottstown Mercury website: www.pottsmerc.com 
  • WBYN Radio 107.5 FM 
  • Channel 69 Television (Cable Channel 15) 
  • WTXF Television Fox Channel 29 (Cable Channel 9)
  • Television ABC Channel 6
  • Television NBC Channel 10 

Our school district website, www.pottstownschools.org, will have all school closing 
 information posted on the district's home page. 

è TELEPHONE COMMUNICATIONS

We ask that parents do not call the schools for this information. Our buildings have very 
 few phone lines and limited office assistance for our secretaries. We appreciate your 
 helping to keep our phone lines open for emergency calls during severe winter weather.  

è EMERGENCY PLANS

Please have a clear plan for your children to follow in case school closes early in 
an emergency.

FROM NORTH: (Allentown)

Take ROUTE 100 S to STATE ST. Turn LEFT onto STATE ST. At first traffic light, turn LEFT onto WILSON ST. At next traffic light, turn RIGHT onto FARMINGTON AVENUE/HANOVER ST. Proceed several blocks to next traffic light. Make a LEFT onto BEECH ST. Proceed a half block (at alley way) to Administration Building on your RIGHT.

FROM SOUTH: (West Chester)

Take ROUTE 100 N to STATE ST. Turn RIGHT onto STATE ST. At first traffic light, turn LEFT onto WILSON ST. At next traffic light, turn RIGHT onto FARMINGTON AVENUE/HANOVER ST. Proceed several blocks to next traffic light. Make a LEFT onto BEECH ST. Proceed a half block (at alley way) to Administration Building on your RIGHT. 

 FROM EAST: (Philadelphia)

Merge onto I-76 W toward Valley Forge. Take 422 W bypass to Route 100 N. Continue on ROUTE 100 N to STATE ST. Turn RIGHT onto STATE ST. At first traffic light, turn LEFT onto WILSON ST. At next traffic light, turn RIGHT onto FARMINGTON AVENUE/HANOVER ST. Proceed several blocks to next traffic light. Make a LEFT onto BEECH ST. Proceed a half block (at alley way) to Administration Building on your RIGHT. 

OR  

Merge onto I-76 W toward Valley Forge. Take the US-422 W exit (EXIT 328A) toward Pottstown/Swedesford Road. Continue on 422 W to HANOVER ST exit. At bottom of ramp, turn RIGHT onto HANOVER ST. Go to sixth traffic light and turn RIGHT onto BEECH ST. Proceed a half block (at alley way) to Administration Building on your RIGHT. 

FROM WEST: (Reading)

Merge onto US-422 E toward Lancaster/Pottstown. Take 422 E bypass to Route 100 N. Continue on ROUTE 100 N to STATE ST. Turn RIGHT onto STATE ST. At first traffic light, turn LEFT onto WILSON ST. At next traffic light, turn RIGHT onto FARMINGTON AVENUE/HANOVER ST. Proceed several blocks to next traffic light. Make a LEFT onto BEECH ST. Proceed a half block (at alley way) to Administration Building on your RIGHT. 

OR  

Merge onto US-422 E toward Lancaster/Pottstown. Continue on 422 E (via Stowe/Pottstown Business District) to HANOVER ST. Turn LEFT onto HANOVER ST. Go to second traffic light and turn RIGHT onto BEECH ST. Proceed a half block (at alley way) to Administration Building on your RIGHT.
